Step 1
Mark up 7 feet from sidewalk or bottom
of door on home where you want your dome awning. If
you have a stoop or step down to a pad or landing please
give us that information.
NOTE: If your door swings out your dome awning must
project out (2 to 3 projection) at least 6” more than
the width of the door. You can mount the dome awning
above the door if you have room to keep the door from STRIKING
the dome awning. |
 |
Step 2A (for dome awnings over doors)
From the 7-foot mark, or as required, measure up the side
of the home (from 1 to 2 drop) to where you want the dome
awning to stop at the top. This is your drop. You can go up
as high as you would like as
long as there is no overhang or projecting off sets. |
 |
Step 2B (for dome awnings over windows)
First decide whether you want to mount the awning on the
window frame or outside on the home itself. In either case
to determine the drop (from 1 to 2) you must find where the
curve of the window starts to go straight down the wall. Make
a mark and then measure to the top of the arch and that give
you your drop.
*Important: You can put dome awnings over square windows.
However, you must either add to the drop or width to cover
the corners of the windows. You can make the drop and
projection different and create an irregular dome to fit the
window if necessary.
|
 |
Step 3
Your projection (from 2 to 3) can be any length you would
like. If your projection is greater than the drop this will
change the shape as a true dome awing. In a true dome example,
the drop would be 36 inches, the projection would be 36 inches
and the width would be 72 inches. Remember that TCT&A
Industries can create any shape dome looking awning you would
like.
Step 4
The width (from 4 to 5) should be at the point the window
stops curving. If dome awning is to fit square window see
above for help measuring.
Step 5
You can add a vertical face (from 6 to 7) to any canopy.

 |
True Half Round

A 3 foot wide canopy would have a center height of 18 inches. |
Elliptical Shape

A 3 foot wide canopy with a minimum drop of 3 inches would
have a center height of 9 inches. |
Taking photos of the project site is very helpful
for everyone. It gives TCT&A specialists an opportunity
to see where you want the awning to go. TCT&A can send
you a rendering with the awning on your building to give a
representation how an awning will appear when installed.
A cloudy day is best and take the picture at a 30 degree
angle with any sun behind you. |
